ADOPTED!
Penny, is a 6-year-old spayed female chocolate Labrador, is as sweet as her chocolate color shows. Penny was rescued from a high kill shelter after her family dropped her off stating the couldn’t care for her any longer. Once we set our eyes on this girl, we knew that she was neglected and not cared for well at all. Her chocolate coat was dull and “sunburnt” indicating that she was kept outside with little or no shade. She was also suffering from dual ear infections. These are common in Labradors but relativity easy to control and resolve. Penny was treated for her ear issues and is recovering nicely. Penny also had some hair loss, which was a result of a yeast infection, and is also being treated. We expect that her fur will shine a beautiful deep chocolate color, and her personality will shine through.
Penny is now relaxing and decompressing at her fosters home where she loves the soft, comfy bed, freshwater, and good quality food along with lots of affection and attention. Possibly poor Penny didn’t receive any of this in her previous home. She is on the shy side but loves being petted and learning that being a cherished family member is terrific. We promise Penny that she will get the very best family to allow her to blossom into the loving, sweet girl we know she is.
Penny’s in foster care with two other dogs and a couple of kitties. She hasn’t paid any attention to the cats and is loving the other dogs and is starting to interact and play with them. We do not think she ever had any toys or bones in her previous life. That has all changed for her now.
We will be following up with the vet for her ears and yeast infection in the next few days.
