ADOPTED!
Meet Archie! This handsome English Lab with a beautiful smile and sweet disposition is approximately five years old. He comes from a shelter in the High Desert listed as a stray.
Archie is the happiest being with his people. If you’re on your phone,
he’ll be there to tell you it’s time to get off and pay attention to him. He is willing to help with laundry, dishes, and yard work, as long as he’s next to you (and you can navigate around him).
Archie’s joy in life is his tennis ball. He’ll fetch it as long as you’ll throw it, releasing the ball with the “give” command and a light tap on his nose. Archie walks well on leash with a soft halter. He walks on the left and initially needs only a little direction to “wait” and not surge ahead at the start of the walk. Due to Archie’s size, we wouldn’t let younger children walk him! He’s taught to sit at corners (on command) before going forward.
Archie training includes having him sit and wait when any doors or gates are while opening, as he has the propensity to rush out ahead of you, it is necessary for his safety. Archie is “treat motivated,” making training easy. Archie is housebroken and has not had any accidents in his foster home. He’s been left alone for 4 1/2 hours (not intended) and did well with no destruction.
Archie doesn’t guard his food and is happy if you rearrange the last few kibbles for him to eat, and he loves peanut butter. Archie isn’t a pest when you’re eating, he keeps his distance and lays down or sits away from you.
Archie enjoys his dog bed in the living room, an occasional couch cuddle, and sometimes on his fosters bed.
Archie acknowledges dogs walking nearby, but doesn’t bark. He is a pleasure to have around and will be an excellent addition to a loving family willing to give him the attention and instruction
needed to improve his life.
Archie is neutered, had recent bloodwork done, a fecal, and exam. He is microchipped and up to date on his vaccines.
