ADOPTED!
Meet Mazzie! She is an adorable and loving two-year-old female yellow Labrador Retriever. Mazzie was surrendered to WCLRR because her family being first-line responders and working so much right now that Mazzie was alone all the time and left in the backyard. We were pleased they allowed WCLRR to help find her the perfect home.
Mazzie’s energy level for a young lab is expected, which is to say she is busy, likes plenty of attention, and needs plenty of exercise. She enjoys playing with other dogs and, given her history of being left alone, would be best in a home with another young, energetic dog or at least one stay at home parent. She is still a bit jumpy and a little nippy at times, so she would not be suitable for small children under 10.
Mazzie figured out how to use a doggie door and is housebroken, but she may have an accident or two while getting used to her new home. Her new family needs to figure out what her triggers and signs are for going out. If her new home has a doggie door, she may need some guidance on using it.
Mazzie has a good appetite and is a counter surfer! Her new family needs to make sure that counters are cleared of everything. It would include food, remotes, eyeglasses, medications, candy, and anything that could potentially hurt or harm her.
Mazzie is pretty good on the leash taking walks around the neighborhood but still pulls, especially at the walk’s start. She would benefit from some training. Mazzie can also get excited when seeing another dog on a walk. Her new family needs to gain her focus and understanding of how to greet other dogs while on a leash. She can also push herself past you coming in or out the front door, so care is needed to block her from escaping. Her behavior needs to be worked on as soon as possible not to have her running out the door.
Mazzie is crate trained; however, she is currently sleeping on the bed next to her foster mom’s bed or in her foster mom’s bed. She sleeps through the night without problems but is very excited in the morning to play with the other dogs and have her breakfast!
Mazzie will make an excellent companion to a family who can give her the love and attention that any dog needs and deserves.
Mazzie is spayed, up to date on her shots, and microchipped.
