ADOPTED!
Meet Luke! He is a 7-8-year-old male chocolate Labrador Retriever. Luke was surrendered to WCLRR when his family could no longer care for him.
Luke is a little overweight, and while that does mean more Luke to love, he really should be between 85-90 pounds, so his new family needs to manage his diet. In addition, he has a slight limp that may be due to a bit of arthritis. He is on an NSAID medication and over-the-counter supplements. Losing a few pounds will help him with joint issues and allow him to remain active and healthy for years to come. Luke also has some skin allergies that are being treated with prescription medication.
Luke’s foster Mom describes him as a “delight!” A happy guy whose tail is always wagging, Luke loves car rides, playing with his toys, walks, and (of course) food! Luke enjoys his “people time,” being brushed, and getting pets and snuggles are among his favorite things. Luke always has a toy or ball in his mouth, ready to play whenever his people are!
Luke is a medium-energy pup, but he is very curious and likes to investigate everything around him. Luke will occasionally help himself to a sock, shoe, hat, brush, or other items within his reach. His new family will need to keep these types of things out of his reach and keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t eat anything he shouldn’t! Providing him with appropriate toys like Nylabones, hard balls, and Kong Extremes will help keep him from looking for other types of “toys.”
Luke is housebroken and sleeps through the night, getting up with his people in the morning. He does pull a bit on walks and barks at other dogs. His new family will want to work with him on leash manners and how to meet other dogs. Luke is living with his foster’s three dogs and behaves well with them. He has not shown any food or toy aggression, although he sometimes wants to be in charge. Luke would do best as an only dog or with a mellow pup. Luke is good with children, but he would do best with children aged ten or above because of his size.
Luke is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and microchipped.
