ADOPTED!

Meet Hailey! She is an adorable female chocolate lab mix, approximately eight months old. Hailey came to WCLRR from a shelter after being surrendered by a family whose child was afraid of her. Hailey is a sweet pup that has been around children at her foster home, and they have gotten along very well. However, Hailey does tend to jump when she gets excited, and she may be best in a home with older children.

Hailey is a puppy, and she has lots of puppy energy! She’s busy all the time exploring her world and finding new adventures. Hailey should be in a home where someone is around most of the time and can play with her and keep an eye on her. She’s very playful with other dogs (her foster family has 3!). She would enjoy being part of a family with another dog that she could play with and use up some of that puppy energy! Unfortunately, she has not been exposed to cats at her foster home.

Hailey knows to sit, shake, and no. Her foster is working with her on house training, and she has been terrific about going outside. However, Hailey doesn’t do her business on walks (no matter how long). She needs to go into the yard immediately after returning from walks to avoid any accidents in the house. Her fosters have been teaching her to walk nicely on a leash. Her new family will need to continue to work on this.

Hailey was not crate-trained when she came to WCLRR. However, her foster has been teaching her to sleep in a crate at night and stay in the crate for short outings when they leave the house. She’s an early riser and will let you know when she’s ready to start her day!

Hailey loves to chew on hard toys like Nylabones. In addition, she likes to “collect” her toys. Hailey will take toys from her toy basket and move them to her “area” in a different room. She doesn’t break or ruin the toys. Instead, she moves them to a better place!

She is a counter surfer, so her family will need to make sure that all counters (including bathrooms) are clear of potentially dangerous items such as medicines, sharp objects, and small items such as dental floss and cotton balls. They should also keep small clothing items such as socks and hair ties out of Hailey’s each. Trash should be kept in a cabinet or under a secure lid. On walks, Hailey will pick up things like pine cones and rocks, so her family will need to watch her ensure she doesn’t swallow these items.

Hailey’s ideal home would be one with a young family (or young at heart with lots of energy!) where someone at home during the day to keep an eye on her. She needs lots of exercise throughout the day with walks, playtime, etc. She would do well with another dog as a playmate and “teach her the ropes” as she grows up.

Hailey is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and microchipped.
