ADOPTED!
Meet Betsy! She is a sweet, active 7-year-old female chocolate Labrador Retriever. Betsy was surrendered to WCLRR when her family realized that she needed more attention and playtime than they could give her.
Betsy has a lot of energy for her age, and her new family will want to make sure she gets trips to a dog park or open outside space where she can run. She is fine with other dogs but is not overly interested in playing with them. She lives with two other dogs in her foster’s house (one male and one female). They all get on well, but Betsy hangs out on a dog bed, chews her toys, or roams around the yard. However, Betsy is active at the dog park, runs around, and romps with other dogs.
Betsy is charming, loving, and attentive. She loves to chew Nylabones and, of course, get treats. Betsy knows to sit and will give a paw when treats are available. She is house trained. Although she had had a few accidents in her foster home when she first arrived, her new family will establish a routine for her.
Betsy sleeps on a dog bed on the floor next to her foster mom. Her foster mom believes she would love to join her on her bed at times. However, she has used a crate in the past, and her new family will want to help her feel comfortable in a crate in her new home.
Betsy is a counter surfer, so counters MUST be clear of food, wrappers, medicines, and anything else that might harm her. Betsy wants to make sure her family knows what is happening and will bark to alert her family to noises outside or people approaching the house. Betsy’s new family will need to work with her on leash training. She does not seem to have had training in the past and tends to pull while on walks.
Betsy is a very active, strong dog. She would do best in a home with an active person or couple that would be with her most of the time and able to take her on walks, to dog parks, on hikes, and perhaps to the beach. She is currently a little overweight, so exercise would help her drop a few pounds in addition to a good healthy diet.
Betsy is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and microchipped.
