ADOPTED!

Meet Jack! He is a male yellow Labrador Retriever almost two years old. Jack came to WCLRR when his family realized a young dog’s commitment was more than they were prepared for and felt they could not give Jack the needed attention.

Jack is happy, well-mannered, well-behaved, and low keyed for a dog his age. He is a little shy at first, but he loves being with his people and loves the company of other dogs. His favorite times to play are the morning and late afternoon. His favorite game is chase. He loves to run in the yard with his two foster brothers. He is swift and agile!

Jack is completely house trained and has had no accidents in his foster home. He is very comfortable and prefers to be indoors. He has been working on his crate skills during his foster stay and has become quite comfortable in his crate. His foster family highly recommends he be allowed to use his crate for his continued success in the house while you are away.

Jack does not counter surf, get into the trash, or beg for food. He is very consistent in his obedience training but, like all young dogs, could benefit from some additional training. His recall is spot on and flawless. He sits well, stays, and waits to improve. He walks nicely on a leash unless he is distracted by a lizard or bird.

Jack is perfect in almost every aspect, except is his ability to break out of the backyard. He manages to do this quietly and without causing any damage or bringing attention to himself. However, he is methodical in his pursuit of freedom and needs a home with a block wall and constant surveillance/supervision in the backyard. This will be the most significant and most challenging obstacle to overcome with him.

Jack has recently shown a relatively high prey drive, so a home with small dogs, cats, and other small animals would probably not be a good fit for him. However, his foster feels that he would adjust and accept smaller animals with the appropriate supervision and training.

Additionally, Jack would benefit from training to help curb his ability to be an escape artist. Honestly, Jack is an exceptional dog. He is well-behaved and extraordinary in the house.

Jack is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.
