ADOPTED!

Meet Foster! He’s a 7 to 9-year-old male yellow Labrador Retriever with a beautiful soft fur coat! WCLRR rescued Foster from a high-kill shelter after he was surrendered when his owner became ill and couldn’t care for him.

Foster is a low-to-medium-energy dog. He enjoys laying around with his people and would love it if his new family let him snuggle with them on the couch while watching television! In addition to relaxing with his family, Foster’s other favorite activity is chasing balls and playing with his stuffed toys.

Foster knows the “sit” and “shake” commands and is house-trained. He is okay walking on a leash, but his new family may want to provide some additional training. Foster sleeps in a crate at his foster home, but it’s not his favorite place to be. He will settle down in the crate but would probably prefer to be on a dog bed next to his family! Foster has been known to counter surf, and his new family will need to ensure that counters are clear of medicines and other items that could harm him.

Foster does have some arthritis in his hips and elbows, which is not uncommon for labs his age. WCLRR’s vet has done a complete physical examination of Foster, including x-rays, and put him on a regimen of anti-inflammatory medication and fish oil. This has eased Foster’s discomfort and helped him walk and run more comfortably. Unfortunately, he will need to continue these medications for the rest of his life.

Foster’s ideal home would be with people who have plenty of time to play with him and give him cuddles. He would enjoy living with other dogs his size that he could play with, but not with cats and small dogs.

Foster is neutered, is current on his vaccines, and is microchipped.
