ADOPTED!
Meet Clayton! He is a happy, lovable 6-8-year-old male yellow Labrador Retriever who adores chasing balls and frisbees! When WCLRR rescued Clayton from a high kill shelter, he had a large mass on his right foot. WCLRR immediately took Clayton to the vet to have the mass assessed and ultimately removed. Unfortunately, the vet had to remove one of Clayton’s toes to remove the mass. The good news is that the mass was benign, and missing a toe hasn’t slowed Clayton down one bit!
Clayton is a medium-energy pup who is a total couch potato in the house, but when it comes to chasing balls and frisbees, he’s in! Clayton loves going to the dog park and is eager to say hello to all the other dogs. He lives with three other labs, and they get along just fine. Clayton also loves people. His foster reports that he is famous at the vet’s office. Because of his surgery, Clayton has been there a lot and has developed quite a fan club! He does a lap around their back-office area when he visits to say hi to the vets and techs, and they love him! We don’t know if he’s lived with children, although he’s met them at the dog park and has been OK with them.
Clayton is a sweet boy and quite well-mannered, although he doesn’t know many commands other than “come.” He has not had any leash training and does tend to pull. His new family will need to work with him to behave better on walks and to learn other commands.
Clayton is house trained and hasn’t had any accidents in the house. At night, he sleeps in a bed in his foster Mom’s room, and in the morning, he waits for his people to get up. Clayton’s foster reports that when they get up in the morning, she is greeted by a big smile from Clayton!
Clayton’s ideal home would be with an individual, couple, or family where someone is home most of the time and can shower him with love and attention. Clayton has had a rough life, and he wants to be loved, and the more love, the better. Clayton would be fine in a home with other dogs or as an only dog. He gets along well with his foster siblings, but his foster says that he doesn’t really “play” with other dogs. Clayton’s passion is chasing balls and frisbees, and he needs to be in a home with people who will play with him, either in their yard or a park or field where he can chase things. Clayton has been known to chase small creatures in his foster’s backyard, so he may do best in a home that does not include small animals. Clayton also tends to bark at little noises and people walking by the house, so a quiet location with a minimum of these types of distractions would be good for him.
Clayton is neutered, is current on his vaccines, and is microchipped.
