ADOPTED!
Meet Winnie! She is a calm, cute 5-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever. Winnie was surrendered to WCLRR when her family realized that a home with small children running around was too much for her quiet, reserved personality. Winnie is an English lab and has the trademark short legs, wavy coat, big bear paws, and thick tail typical of this type of lab.
Winnie LOVES other dogs and does well with dogs of all sizes. She lives with three other dogs, and they get along well. Winnie is very respectful of the other dogs’ space, and there haven’t been any resource guarding issues. She has shown some interest in the cat in her foster home and will follow the cat around and take a sniff or two. She is easily corrected if told “no.” When it comes to people, she is very reserved. She takes her time meeting adults but will sometimes retreat from children as their higher energy can make her uncomfortable.
Winnie doesn’t seem to know any commands, but her foster is working with her on basics, including sitting at doors to wait until she is told she can go out. She has stood on her hind legs to investigate a counter but hasn’t tried to take anything.
Winnie loves to go on walks, and her foster mom says that she is “lovely” to walk. Winnie walks calmly on the sidewalk with no pulling. She was a little barky when she first arrived at her foster home. But, once she felt more comfortable, the barking stopped.
Winnie loves her dog bed and sleeps quietly on the bed next to her foster sibling in her foster mom’s bedroom. In the morning, she waits until her foster mom gets up.
Winnie’s ideal home would be a quiet place, maybe with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children where someone is home most of the time. She is delighted to sit with her people. She would do well with another dog for company.
Winnie is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is microchipped.
