ADOPTED!
Meet Samantha! She is a sweet 9-year-old female chocolate Labrador Retriever with beautiful golden eyes. Samantha was rescued by a good Samaritan when her family moved and didn’t want to take her with them. Samantha lived most of her life outside on a concrete driveway. When Samantha came to WCLRR, she was overweight at 138 lbs. Since she has been in foster, she has lost around 20 lbs! Her new family will want to continue a diet and exercise regimen to help her get to a healthy weight.
Samantha is a low-to-medium energy dog. She loves a leisurely walk and enjoys running with her foster sister in the backyard. Samantha is easy to walk. She gets a little excited when leaving the house but quickly settles down and walks calmly next to her foster mom. Samantha also enjoys her daily nap, and her foster mom reports that Samantha is quite the snorer! She likes to chew on Nylabones but is not interested in balls or stuffed toys.
Samantha loves being with people and other animals. She will greet people and other dogs nicely on her daily walks. She runs into the vet’s office with her tail wagging for her weight checks because she knows she’ll get attention! Samantha lives with another lab, a smaller dog, a cat, and two tortoises. Samantha gets along well with the other dogs, and her foster reports that her cat adores Samantha and follows her around. Sami doesn’t pay much attention to the cat other than to give her the occasional sniff, and she ignores the tortoises.
Samantha’s foster is working with her to learn “sit” and “stay.” She knows “shake” as well. Samantha is not a barker, although she might bark if she hears people talking outside the house. Samantha is housetrained and uses a doggie door to go outside. She hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home.
Samantha sleeps on a dog bed in her foster mom’s bedroom. Her foster mom hasn’t tried to use a crate for Samantha because she sleeps quietly through the night.
Samantha is an easy-going dog that would be happy with an individual, a couple, or a family with children. Anyone that will give her the attention she deserves! She is fine being left alone, but she is happy when her people are around. She would be fine as an only dog or in a home with dogs and cats.
Samantha is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and microchipped.
