Meet Dulce! She is a one-year-old black Labrador Retriever mix with a glossy coat and beautiful puppy eyes. Dulce came to WCLRR after she surrendered to the shelter after her family found that Dulce’s energy level was not a good fit with their young child, and Dulce nipped at the child.
Dulce is a medium-to-high energy dog, the perfect combination of easy-going and spunky! She greets everyone she meets with enthusiasm, assumes everyone is ready to play and gives her belly rubs. She is happy to hang out on the couch and watch TV while chewing a bone or going on a nice neighborhood walk. Dulce also enjoys playing fetch. She has a lot of toys at her foster home, and she enjoys parading around the yard or house with them in her mouth. Dulce’s foster says she walks like a dream on her harness/leash! Dulce enjoys regular walks during the week and is also very happy to go on a run or hike.
Dulce knows a lot of commands, including Sit, Down, Stay, Place, Go to Bed, and many more. Dulce has been an excellent student learning from our trainer and has excelled in many areas. Dulce has also been introduced to speech buttons! Dulce’s new owner will need to work with our trainer first to learn her unique talents.
Dulce is terrific with many different personalities of dogs. She even calibrates the activity level and temperament of the other dog and plays with them accordingly. Dulce calmly notices other dogs but doesn’t pull to get to them on a walk. She’s great with other dogs and animals in general. She previously lived in a home with a cat, and she had peaceful interactions with that cat.
Dulce is fully house trained and crate trained. She sleeps quietly through the night in a crate in her foster’s bedroom and waits patiently for her people to take her out and start their day. Dulce has mild to moderate separation anxiety and is currently on a natural supplement that keeps it in check.
Dulce’s ideal home would be an active single or couple with a secure yard looking for a buddy to take on walks or hikes or hang out and relax. Dulce gets along well with children, but she is young and does best with older children. Therefore, we will not place Dulce with small children. Instead, she would do well as an only dog or as a little sister to an adult dog that can “show her the ropes.”
Dulce is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and microchipped.
