ADOPTED!

Meet Rex! He is an eight-year-old black Labrador Retriever with a tall, slender build and a beautiful glossy black coat. Rex came to WCLRR after a good Samaritan rescued him from a home where the owner couldn’t care for him.

Rex is very active for his age. He LOVES the water and is an excellent swimmer and dock diver! Rex enjoys going to the dog park and gets along with other dogs. He lives with several other dogs and gets along with them, although he does tend to dominate them. He loves toys but will chew up stuffies, so his foster gives him plenty of Nylabones and other hard chew toys.

Rex is an intelligent boy! His good Samaritan rescuer worked with him on commands, and he knows “sit,” “wait,” “no,” “get your toy,” and “get in your bed.” His foster is using a gentle leader to work with Rex on leash manners. His new family should continue to work with him to teach him not to pull on the leash.

Rex is house-trained and hasn’t had any accidents in his foster home. He is also crate trained and enjoys napping in his crate. At night Rex sleeps on a dog bed in his foster’s bedroom. Then, he bounces up in the morning, ready to start his day!

Rex has been known to counter surf and will get into the food if it is left within his reach. His new family will need to keep counters clear of food, medicines, and other items to keep him safe and to discourage checking out counters. Rex is not a fan of car rides and will whine a bit, although if he is with his people, he will settle down for short trips.

Rex’s ideal home would be with an individual, couple, or family where someone is home most of the time to give Rex the love and attention he craves. Rex is fine if left alone for short periods, but he prefers being with his people! He is a super sweet boy who loves snuggling and having all the attention and toys. He would do best as an only dog getting all the available attention and love! Rex adores water, so a pool or regular access to a river, lake, or ocean is a must for him to be happy.

Rex is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
