ADOPTED!

Meet Kylie! She is a seven-year-old black Labrador Retriever with a glossy coat dotted with spots of white. Kylie was surrendered to WCLRR because her family was going through a divorce. Kylie came to WCLRR with an old injury to her rear leg that was left untreated. She is now on medication to reduce inflammation and has regained her playfulness.

Kylie is a low-to-medium-activity dog. She loves playing with the other dogs and seems to enjoy the company of dogs her size. She also loves her rest time and can be found close to her humans on a dog bed or the floor. Her favorite time to play is after dinner when it’s cooler outside. She lives with a younger lab, and the two like to chase each other with a toy, playing keep away.

Kylie loves people of all ages and greets everyone who visits the home. Kylie is on the large side for a Labrador, but she is gentle around younger children. Kylie lives with another lab, three smaller dogs, and a cat and has done very well with them. She can be vocal with the other dogs when she wants her space. One of the small dogs is deaf and doesn’t hear her cues, but she has been patient with him.

Kylie has fun no matter what she’s doing! Kylie hops up and down on her front legs with the biggest smile when she knows it’s time to eat or she’s getting a treat! Her foster believes that Kylie thinks that all Amazon boxes contain toys. When she sees the box, she patiently waits for it to be opened to see if a new toy is inside! Kylie is also a bit of a talker and will make little sounds to express her opinion to her foster!

Kylie’s favorite activities are playing with the other lab in the home, eating treats (she is VERY food motivated), and sleeping at her foster’s feet during the workday. Her favorite toys are whatever another dog is playing with at the time. She likes to play tug of war with the other dog. She will also track down a toy and carry it around like a prize. She also likes to chew on Nylabones.

Kylie is house-trained and hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home. Her foster home has a dog door she uses when she needs to go outside. Kylie is also crate trained, although she barks a bit when she first goes in. She does best if the crate is in a room with other dogs, so she has company. Her foster gives her a frozen Kong with peanut butter, and she settles down.

Kylie takes correction well, especially when treats are involved! However, she does tend to pull a bit on the leash and would benefit from some training to learn leash manners.

Kylie sleeps quietly through the night on a dog bed in her foster’s bedroom. She is not usually the first one up and will wait until the other dogs wake her foster up.

Kylie has also been known to counter surf and will pull items off the counter. Her new family needs to ensure that medicines, food, and other items are out of reach.

Kylie’s ideal home would be an individual, couple, or family with older children (eight or older). She likes to lay on the patio in the sun, and she enjoys having an outdoor space. She does well with dogs of all sizes but would enjoy living with a dog her size for a playmate.

Kylie is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.
