ADOPTED!

Meet Libby! She is a sweet, well-mannered five-year-old yellow English Labrador Retriever. Libby was surrendered to WCLRR when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Libby weighed nearly 100 pounds when she came to WCLRR, her foster has managed her diet, and Libby has already lost more than 10 pounds!

Libby had a complete veterinary check-up when she came to WCLRR and was diagnosed with a heart murmur. After some tests, the cardiologist determined that Libby was healthy enough to have her spay procedure and does not currently require heart medication. However, her new family should ensure that they help Libby maintain a healthy weight and that she has regular exams to keep tabs on the heart murmur.

Libby gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and enjoys a good game of chase with them! She lives with three other dogs at her foster home, and there have been no problems. Libby loves to be with her people and is always up for a good scratch behind her ears! She is a sensitive girl who can be skittish when first meeting people but warms up quickly. She was excellent during her vet visits and easy for the vet to handle.

Libby is a medium-activity dog that loves to play fetch and chew on Nylabones. However, her new family should ensure she doesn’t get too hot or overly excited during play, which could aggravate her heart murmur. In addition, their vet should be able to provide guidance on appropriate exercise levels.

Libby has excellent manners, and she knows “sit,” “wait,” “no,” “good girl,” and “let’s go.” Her foster says she is excellent on the leash, with no pulling.

Libby sleeps on a dog bed in her foster’s bedroom. She waits for her people to get up in the morning and is bouncy and ready to start her day!

Libby has had a few accidents in her new home. Her fosters leave a door open, allowing her to go in and out. Her new family will need to take her outside regularly or make sure that she has a doggy door or some other access to a potty area.

Libby’s ideal home would be with an individual, couple, or family that will take her for walks and play with her. A calm and quiet home with a secure yard that has shade and grass for her to lie in would be perfect for her. She would do well with older children and enjoy having one or more dogs for companionship.

Libby is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.
